iphoto crashed and deleted my last import

Hi,

I imported pics of my 2 year olds bday party into iPhoto and was making my way through the pics labelling the faces and 5 minutes later iPhoto crashed. I rebooted iPhoto and to my dismay the pics were all deleted. I now do not have any of the photos left because they were deleted from the memory card. Does anyone know how I could recover these? They are not in the iPhoto trash folder. The 2 events that were created say there is 0 photos in them. What happened?????

a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card -- I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos

You can try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

If that does not work then you will need to try recovery software like media recover - do not use your me more card again before you resolve this or you will wipe out some or all of the recoverable photos

Thanks for the tip. That just saved me. I usually don't hit "delete after import", but for some reason I did this time and of course this particular time, iPhoto crashed and could then only see one of the two video files I had imported. Holding command + option while launching iPhoto and then having it re-index the library got it to find the file it lost. Thanks for this VERY helpful tip!
